My first love

Boston Massachusetts is a wonderful fight town and where my love of boxing was born. I was born in Lowell, MA and introduced to boxing through my grandfather John McSheehy. He was your typical Irishman…hard nosed and tough as nails. His boxing pedegree was second to none. He fought during his years in the United States Army and was very active in the golden glove circuit in Boston, MA. My mother can remember him taking her to fights with a ballcap on so nobody knew she was a girl, as they were not allowed at the fights. Some of my earliest memories in life were watching fights with him on the couch late at night when we would come to visit. As my interest level grew stronger and stronger, it was time to go out to the shed. The “shed” was where he taught me the sweet science and art of boxing that I never knew existed. I learned to hit the bag with a purpose…working on combination after combination. I learned to spar for stamina and strength. He passed away in 1989, but my love of boxing has never faded.
